Cairo, Egypt the signing of a contract between Talaat Moustafa Group (TMG), the leading property developer in Egypt with “MATALAN,” a brand that specializes in clothing and home accessories, with a space of 1,200 sqm, scheduled to open in April 2021 at the Open Air Mall.

The contract was signed at an official ceremony between TMG and MATALAN at the Open Air Mall in the presence of Mr. Omar Hisham Talaat, Chief Business Development Officer at TMG Holding and Mr. Wael Amer, Real Estate and Property Director, Mrs. Noura Abdel El Kader, Retail Director and Mr. Gamal Khaled, MATALAN Brand Manager at Nile Projects and Trading.

MATALAN at the Open Air Mall is going to be the third branch in Egypt, and the latest fashion retail store for women, men and children in addition to home accessories at affordable prices. Founded in the city of Liverpool, UK, and after the great success of its branches in the Middle East and Europe, MATALAN aims to expand in North Africa.

Nile Project and Trading, the owner of the brand 'MATALAN', one of the leading companies in the field of retail business, owns more than 30 popular global brands, and operates more than 70 stores in Egypt and Jordan.

The Open Air Mall is one of the largest in the Middle East and is the only super regional open-air shopping center in Egypt. The master plan of the mall sits on a 404,000 sqm plot in addition to a 6,000 car parking lot with a total leasable area of 92,000 sqm spread across 8 different buildings overlooking a central lusciously landscaped area surrounded by fountains and artificial lakes, where visitors have the chance to shop in an outdoor environment.

Inspired by the San Francisco Tram, the Open Air Mall will feature 4 trams built on a historic undercarriage from a 1950s trolley streetcar that will travel along the different buildings.

The Open Air Mall has been operating in a “soft-launch” mode since 2019 with the opening of the first of its 8 buildings, which is anchored by Carrefour hypermarket and now also includes LC Waikiki amongst other well-known brands for example Mohamed El Sagheer Salon, Dalydress, Tradeline, Abu Auf, Miniso, Coldstone Creamery, Fifth Street Coffee, Coppermelt, ElAraby Electronics, Cinnabon, Imtenan, and a wide selection of Egyptian and global banks as well as many other brands.

The second of 8 buildings is now operating and boasts a 15-screen cinema complex in partnership with Renaissance as well as Pink Elephant and will add a portfolio of brands currently under fit out and expected to open in the next couple of months such as Desoky and Soda, Coffeemania and Ramfa Beauty.

The third of 8 buildings will soon follow with the biggest family entertainment center in Egypt and one of the largest in the region which will offer ‘first -to-market’ game concepts. This building will also host a number of well-known F&B concepts such as a flagship Zooba store, TBS, Attibassi, Thomas Patisserie, Second Cup, as well as toy stores such as KAMS and Bingo.

Matalan is expected to open in the fourth of the 8 buildings in April 2021 along with the 4 recently signed F&B concepts under the Mori International umbrella (Mori Sushi, Tamara Lebanese Bistro, Ted’s, Mince), along with Café Supreme, Shocks, Gringo’s, and many more. The building will also feature other famous local brands like Kriss Hairdresser, Hedeya Jewelry and Voila Patisserie. Currently operating brands in this building include Pixi and Nola Cupcakes.

The mall is only a 10 to 20-minute drive from New Cairo, the New Capital and Al Rehab City. It will be home to many leading global brands across fashion, furniture, and sporting goods.
